Best Practice for Inclusive Education Academy

This academy and the module support several of the JLARC recommendations, including self-assessment, non-academic and extracurricular activities, CSA updates, as well as Indicator updates.
The Best Practice Inclusive Education Academy topics will include:
- Overview of the Inclusive Practices Action Planning Tool;
- Special Education Indicators data and targeting setting survey; and
- Strategies to increase students with disabilities’ participation in non-academic and extra-curricular activities.
To facilitate this support and professional development, there will be regional presentations. Each division should select a two-member team to attend this Academy. It can be a school-based team or a division-level team that should include a general education and a special education administrator. To determine the appropriate team members, the division is encouraged to review their current placement data from the December 1 Child Count and determine which school(s) would benefit the most from additional support in addressing student needs in the regular classroom and/or regular school setting.
