Lisa Norris worked as a special educator in both elementary and middle schools for 21 years before coming to the Training and Technical Assistance Center at James Madison University. These years of classroom experience are invaluable in her role at TTAC. In this position, Lisa provides professional development for in-service teachers of students with disabilities. Most of her time is spent on inclusive practices, co-teaching, school improvement, and building skills for better collaboration between general education and special education teachers. The ultimate goal being to improve education for our students with disabilities.
Lisa’s other interest is middle school where she taught for 18 years. Lisa has served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Middle School Association for over 25 years and is currently the Associate Executive Director of that board. She has also held the national position of South/East Teacher Representative for the Association of Middle Level Education.
Her interests include spending time with her two adorable grandbabies, traveling the world with her husband, and watching lots of HGTV.
